SQSP Fluid Engine Shortcuts

WHAT IS THE FLUID ENGINE?

Fluid Engine is Squarespace’s latest layout editor for blocks and page sections which was released in the summer of 2022. Unlike the previous editor that a 12 column grid (and utilized spacers), you now can move, layer, and arrange content blocks on a grid. This offers endless creative freedom without the constant use of code to place your blocks + objects. Also with Fluid Engine you also now have the capabilities to edit/design your Mobile view separate from Desktop. WHAT IS A KEYBOARD SHORTCUT?

Keyboard shortcuts are a key or combination of keys providing quick access to a particular function within the program you are using, in this case we are discussing Squarespace Fluid Engine Shortcuts. Think CTRL + ALT + DELETE or ⌘S - these would be considered shortcuts. Once you have learned these shortcuts you will be able to edit your website quicker and more efficiently than ever before!

WINDOWS & MAC FE SHORTCUTS

Use these shortcuts when editing or moving content with the Fluid Engine.

• SELECT A BLOCK

  Mac: TAB

  Windows : TAB

• SELECT PREVIOUS BLOCK

  Mac: SHIFT + TAB

  Windows: SHIFT + TAB

• SELECT ALL BLOCKS IN A SECTION

  Mac: ⌘+ A

  Windows:CTRL + A

• DELETE SELECTED BLOCK(S)

  Mac & Windows: DELETE

• MOVE BLOCK

  Mac & Windows: ARROW KEYS

• RESIZE BLOCK

  Mac: ⌘ + ARROW KEYS

  Windows: CTRL + ARROW KEYS

• MOVE BLOCK FORWARD OR BACKWARD

  Mac & Windows : SHIFT + UP/DOWN ARROW KEY

• MOVE BLOCK UP OR DOWN (Mobile View)

  Mac: OPTION + UP/DOWN ARROW KEY

  Windows: ALT + UP/DOWN ARROW KEYS

• DUPLICATE BLOCK

  Mac: ⌘ + D

  Windows: CTRL + D

• COPY BLOCK

  Mac: ⌘ + C

  Windows: CTRL + C

• PASTE BLOCK

  Mac: ⌘ + V

• SHOW GRID

• SEARCH FOR A PANEL

  Mac & Windows : / or ?
  I use this feature all the time to find css panel I just type

  /css and it will pull up the panel :)

  If your browser uses the same shortcut, your cursor may default to your browser's search field.

• ADD A BLOG POST, PRODUCT, EVENT, OR ANOTHER COLLECTION ITEM

  Mac & Windows: When a collection page is open just hit SPACE

• MOVE BACK TO PREVIOUSLY HIGHLIGHTED ELEMENT

  Mac & Windows: SPACE

• OPEN A SELECTED BLOCKS MENU

  Mac & Windows: Hit ENTER/RETURN when a block is selected.
